Oh there are plenty of people who would run the other way. It’s true that bridal shows bring many to their knees- begging for a getaway or pleading for a “get out of jail free” card. But we love bridal shows! There is magic at bridal shows. The anticipation of what is to be!
Cakes and DJs
Bridal shows are where we get to meet brides (and grooms and mothers-in-law-to-be) and more in preparing for the big day. And of all the vendors at a bridal show… of all the cakes and venues and dress shops and catering services and don’t forget the DJs… we are the only ones who are looking out for your relationship. You know, the “til death do us part” stuff. The marriage. The beginning of the rest of your life. Yep- we are there AFTER the big day.
The power of knowing who to call
People come to us for pre-married coaching or our unique 1-day workshops. They come to build up their communication and conflict resolution skills and they come to learn to set goals together as they move forward. And we are thrilled because not only are we helping them in a critical season, we are also building a bridge to let them know we are there down the line when things get hard. It is SO MUCH easier to contact us down the road when they get to know us in the pre-married stage.
Here’s the added bonus of pre-married coaching:
- Pre-married couples who meet a relationship coach know how comfortable it is to come back and see us. It’s an easy decision to make to make an appointment because they know what coaching is.
- Couples who have come to us for pre-married aren’t likely to wait so long to get help. They can see the warnings early, they recognize the traps, and they know putting out a small fire is easier than putting out a huge one.
- Couples who have come to us know that having issues is normal (and the passive avoidance of conflict can get you into a whole lot more trouble). Since they know they are “normal”, there is no shame in coming to see us. They know that as critical as it is to get their teeth cleaned twice a year, it’s also important to build into their relationship health. *
*Some of you are thinking, “I don’t get my teeth cleaned twice a year! Who does that?? I don’t even floss.” To you I say… it’s an illustration of health and just run with it. And also, you should rethink your theory. Dental health is important.
We get to be part of the magic.
We go to bridal shows because we get to be an important part of the magic. We get to talk to people who might not even know how to get (or why to get) pre-married coaching and tell them all about what we do!
Here’s the scoop: Relationship coaching isn’t for messed up couples. It is for fairly healthy couples who want to get stronger and work out issues so they can have a thriving, satisfying marriage. Sounds good, eh? I have to go brush my teeth now.
